TALK-IT-OUT
Go through each main point and scripture from the message and use the corresponding questions in discussion with your group. Encourage your group to pull this post up on their own device to follow along.
Main Scripture Context: While the Israelites were on a journey to the land that God had promised them, Moses sent some men into the land to explore and find out more about the land and the people who lived there. The following scripture is their response when they returned.
Numbers 13:33 (NIV)
. . . We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.
Talk-it-Out: What area of your life or challenge has you feeling like a grasshopper?
POINT 1: HUMANS CREATE FUTURES.
Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows out of it.
Talk-it-Out: Identify three things you would like to be true about your future 5 years from now.
POINT 2: THE FIGHT FOR YOUR FUTURE IS MORE INTERNAL THAN EXTERNAL.
Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
. . . being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Romans 8:37 (NIV)
. . . we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
Talk-it-Out: In what ways is the fight for your future an internal fight? Be specific.
POINT 3: PUTTING YOURSELF DOWN DOESN’T LIFT GOD UP.
Psalm 28:7 (NIV)
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.
Psalm 18:29 (ESV)
For by You, I can run against a troop, and by my God, I can leap over a wall.
Talk-it-Out: Why can the words you speak and think about yourself either honor God, or dishonor God?
POINT 4: DOING IS FIGHTING.
Joshua 24:15 (NIV)
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve . . . But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
Talk-it-Out: Identify 3 three things you can DO to fight for the future described in the first Talk-it-Out question.
