Message Review
Main points and scriptures from this week's message.
Isaiah 54:2 (NIV)
“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.”
Talk-it-Out: What are you asking God for?
God wants our first and our best, but God never wants something from us without giving something to us.
Luke 6:38 (NIV)
“Give and it will be given to you . . .”
Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
“Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you as well.“
Talk-it-Out: Can you think of an example of when God was asking something of you but then gave something in return?
Malachi 3:10 (NIV)
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test Me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
Talk-it-Out: Is the concept of tithing something that you challenge? Why or why not?
God’s not offended when we ask Him to do things for us.
“God is not bothered by our constant coming and asking. The way to trouble God is not to come at all.”–D. L. Moody
Talk-it-Out: Do you sometimes hesitate to ask God for things that you desire because you feel like it would be selfish?
Mark 11:22–24 (NIV)
“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Desires are often indicators of God’s will in our lives.
Believing is what we’re called to do.
If we want to see God work in our lives, we have to keep our minds open to the possibilities that seem impossible.
Matthew 19:26 (NIV)
"With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Talk-it-Out: After considering the above scripture, what are you believing God for? (Go bigger.)
